Zwift SZR Recovery Ride: France’s Route Grand Vitesse or High Speed Road
The weather changed big time during the night. From the 70’s and wet yesterday to 42 and overcast with some wind. After chilling out on yesterday’s ride I switched to Zwift for today’s bike ride. This keeps my consecutive bike ride streak active at 20, each day of January. Stage 4 of The Tour de Zwift starts tomorrow so while wait for that I chose the SZR Recovery Ride. 60 minutes on the France Route Grand Vitesse (High Speed Road) started at 12 PM. The w/kg was supposed to be 1.6 – 1.8 but I don’t think that lasted very long. At one point the ride leader, Jean Robert, said 400 flyers off the front out 673. I wasn’t one of the flyers though. It didn’t take long for most everyone to head off even though it looked like I was riding in the prescribed w/kg range. At the finish no one crossed the line with me. I listened to 70’s Radio on Pandora while I rode. A nice beat to keep turning the pedals to.
I’m not sure what the ranking below means but it looks good. I rode in Group D but “A” appears. Interesting that Tom Boonenfanclub was just ahead of me.
This was the fourth time riding this route. A comparison of them.
The route profile gives the impression there wasn’t much climbing but 436 feet over 18.1 miles seems like a lot to my legs. No steep 10% climbs, most were 4 to 5%.
