TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – The city of Tyler said the Tyler City Council approved a consulting contract with Toole Design on Wednesday, Jan. 12, for the development of a concept to support revitalization efforts in the downtown area.
They said in the last 15 years, there has been a national movement toward Downtown revitalization supported by State programs and Main Street America. With the additions of new large residential developments in progress and a high concentration of local business and amenities, a plan is needed to support this new growth and lifestyle. …

Bikers travel 6,000 miles for clean energy advocacy

AUSTIN, Texas — Sushil Reddy and Luiz Fourzan have been riding their electric bikes since Aug. 15. They’ve covered more than 6,000 miles across the U.S. together.
“[We want] to raise awareness on solar energy, on electric mobility and active lifestyle,” said Reddy.
Their journey started in North Carolina, where Reddy’s solar-powered bike was assembled. They’ve hit big cities and small towns, averaging 55 miles a day. The duo arrived in Texas on Dec. 20. They took a 10-day break there during the holidays, and then made their way to Austin on Jan. 9. They’ll be in the Capital City until the Jan. 15. Then, it’ll take them three days to reach Houston, where the journey ends. …

Firefighters get young boy new bike after his was lost in a fire

SEGUIN, Texas – Local firefighters went above and beyond the call of duty for a young boy who lost his bike in a fire.
Crews were called to fight a blaze on the young man’s front porch on Tuesday morning. When they arrived, they found the porch and the siding on the home on fire.

Alamo Heights to roll out its first bike park

Alamo Heights will roll out its first bike park within a couple of months.
That’s when the trails will be ready to ride, Assistant City Manager Phil Laney said.
The park will be on a 1.28-acre site between Bark Park and the Alamo Heights ISD Baseball Field within the Olmos Basin floodplain. The city leases the land from San Antonio.
Early plans show beginner, intermediate and advanced trails at the park.
