New Southern Trail biking, hiking path opening in Rockport

ROCKPORT, Texas — A new hiking and biking trail is opening in Rockport.
It’s called the southern trail and it’s 1.7 miles long traversing through the south side of the city.
This is the latest addition to the Aransas Pathways Project.
You can take a walk and enjoy the outdoors here, do some bird watching, chase butterflies or ride your bike.
This new pathway was made possible by a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation.

Who: Any 2nd to 5th grader looking to work on learning to ride with a group safely, learning the rules of the road, and building stamina.
When: Cedar Creek Running Club meets on Thursdays from 2:50 to 4:30pm
Dates: 9/9/2021 – 12/2/2021 (No class on 09/30/2021, 10/28/2021, 11/25/2021)

San Antonio Spurs’ favorite Manu Ginóbili said he’s "fired up" for the new bike trail at Eisenhower Park. The retired NBA legend recently stopped by the city’s ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, November 6, to celebrate the 2-mile trail connecting Eisenhower Park to the Rim. The connection now links allows two major greenways — Leon Creek and Salado Creek — creating an approximately 40-mile trail.
"This is really something worth celebrating," he said at the ceremony. "I’m a big fan of riding the bike, and when they connected Salado and Leon, I was fired up. I think it’s something very special that we have in this community." …

WACO, Texas — A Waco man and his mother are searching for the person that allegedly sent him to the hospital and didn’t stop to help.
