City approves $1.1 million bond reconstruction of Cargill Long Trail

Longview’s popular Cargill Long Trail is getting a $1.1 million facelift that’s slated to be completed by early 2022.
The Longview City Council on Thursday approved awarding a $1.1 million contract to Reynolds & Kay Inc. of Tyler for the a reconstruction of Cargill Long Trail. Funding comes from a voter-approved 2018 bond election, and the price tag came in under the city’s $1.25 million budget for the project.
The project includes a complete reconstruction of the trail, which the city initially acquired in 1971. An extension was added in 2001. The trail features an asphalt surface, and Parks and Recreation Director Scott Caron said …

At 10:08 pm Monday night, 911 operators took a call for a reported auto-pedestrian crash on Magnolia Blvd at David Lane in Magnolia. Magnolia Fire responded along with MCHD. The caller said they knew they hit the bike but could not find the victim. When units arrived they found a bicycle impaled in the right front of a Mazda passenger car. . Crews found the victim about 50-feet back and about 15-feet off the roadway, between the road and the railroad tracks. He was deceased. DPS Troopers assisted Magnolia Police in the crash. POTTER COUNTY, Texas (KVII) — One man is dead and another seriously hurt after a motorcycle and bicycle crashed into each other in Potter County, northwest of Amarillo, on Saturday morning.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at about 8:55 a.m., 79-year-old Ronald Archer, of Amarillo, was driving a 2003 Honda Goldwing east and uphill on Patrick Pass. Simultaneously, 68-year-old Harold Brigance, of Amarillo, was riding a Cannondale bicycle west on Patrick Pass.
