Another Windy Day, Kingwood to Ramsey Road Bike Ride
My bike ride today followed my “Kingwood to Ramsey Road – Huffman” route. I thought I rode this route earlier this year but that was slightly different because I didn’t go north on FM 2100 through Huffman. The road construction blocked the shoulder then. The last time I rode this route was 9/17/2020 which surprised me. I rode my Canyon Endurace CF SLX bike covering 38.65 miles. This improved the week’s total to 157.33 miles and April to 915.65 miles, the highest month since July 2020. I now trail 2020 year to date by 17 miles with 2,977 miles for 2021. If I ride tomorrow that will put April miles above July 2020 but the weather forecast includes rain. April 2020 I rode 957 miles. I won’t get to amount.
I began the bike ride at 11:07 AM and finished at 2:14 PM. Time Moving: 2:51:37.
Another breezy day with a headwind most of the way to Ramsey Road. My legs felt good providing watts to power into the wind. Weather conditions: start 81 (76% humidity, 72.6 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind SE 16 mph; 82 (75% humidity, 73.5 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind SE 13 mph gusts 17 mph. Wardrobe for today: shorts and a short sleeve jersey with the Ohio state flag.
It’s been awhile since I rode on the Atascocita Hike & Bike Trail so I added it to today’s ride.
Crossing FM 2100 to continue to Ramsey Road was quick with no waiting for traffic to pass. About a third of the distance on Old Atascocita Road has a line of trees and brush off the south side of the road which breaks the wind a little. But the open parts are flat giving the wind a straight shot at me.
I brought a breakfast bar with me and at Ramsey Road I took a short break to eat it and rest my legs from the headwind. I took these photos of one of the bridges.
No Strava medals today.
The121 watts average power indicates pedaling into the headwind. for over 22 miles.
