Day 14: Navasota to Shepard sanctuary campground
Monday April 26, 2021, 80 miles (129 km) – Total so far: 966 miles (1,555 km)
It was nice to wake up in the clean and quiet hotel this morning. Out on the road at 7:25 in the humid air. Fortunately there was cloud cover most of the morning and part of the afternoon. Temperatures were in the 80s and it was very humid. This is the first time I’ve noticed the humidity. I took my first break in a small town Called Richards. A fellow named Cyrus came up to chat. He was curious about who I was, what I was doing and so forth. He told me he was 61 then when I asked him how old he thought I was he told me 49. He lives in the area and was a nice guy.
Lo and behold a bit later I saw my first fellow touring cyclist. His name is Mike and he’s from Houston. He is trying to do the southern tier in parts and has done everything east of here. He said he’s shipped his bike to San Diego last year and then had to have it shipped back because of Covid. We talked for about five or 10 minutes and it’s amazing how much it lifted my spirits.
I took a lunch break in the town of New Waverly and got some good …

Hot Biking Sikes Lake With Ryan Goslings & Pink Evening Primroses
Durango Texas | durangotexas.blogspot.com
With the outer world temperature heading to the semi-hot 80s I decided it was a good day to take my bike’s wheels on a roll on this final Monday of the 2021 version of April.
Soon after arriving at the paved trail around Sikes Like I came upon what you see photo documented above, a fresh flock of Ryan Goslings, soon after hatching, judging by their tiny size.
I think I recently made mention of the fact that this year’s crop of …
