Bluebonnets Along Kingwood – Splendora – Kingwood Bike Ride Route
When I started today’s bike ride wildflowers didn’t come to mind. Watch the video to see the wildflowers. What did come to mind were the potential rain clouds showing up on the weather radar around Kingwood. After starting the bike ride at 11:23 AM and making my way to Woodridge Forest I felt a few light sprinkles but they went away. I rode north on my “Kingwood – Splendora – Kingwood” route. I thought the route distance was less than 40 miles but turned out to be 42.58 miles. This bumped my week total to 116.89 miles and April to 255.78 miles. April mileage goal is 600. I am ahead of the pace to reach my goal by 115 miles.
I rode my Canyon Endurace CF SLX bike today and finished at 2:39 PM. The Canyon has 21, 261 miles under its tires.
A comparison of the bike rides on this route from 2020 today. Average power today exceeded the previous rides. Today was the first time I biked this route in 2021. The last time was October 14th, 2020.
Weather conditions other than the brief rain threat suited me. I wore shorts, a long sleeve jersey with a short sleeve jersey over it. Weather conditions: start 75 (80% humidity, 68.2 dew point), overcast, wind S 10 mph; finish 77 (72% humidity, 67.6 dew point), overcast, wind S 9 mph. April wind can be as strong as March winds. The wind proved helpful getting to Splendora. The wind on the return trip to Kingwood wasn’t as bad as I expected. Legs felt good today. I built my average speed up to 14.3 mph and held it there until I rode back into Kingwood. Maybe spring weather is taking hold.
