Texas Biking Action March 8th 2021
Ride for Scenic Texas
www.rei.com
Saturday, April 10, 2021 8:00am–1:00pm
This scenic ride will feature Aaron Chamberlain, Texas Monthly freelance writer and co-founder of the Austin Beer Guide, who is the first person to circumnavigate the state of Texas (more than 3,000 miles) on a bike. This is an open ride format from 8 a.m. to noon where riders can take to the course freely to enjoy the scenic ride that begins and ends at Vista Brewing. After catching the sun coming up on this 21-mile ride enjoy a socially distanced brew outside in the Vista Brewing beer garden. Masks are required at all times when not seated or biking. We will have contactless check in at the event or at check in locations TBA prior to the event. Please see Vista Brewing’s policies regarding COVID-19 safety. This ride will take place in conjunction with the Driftwood Historical Conservation Society event that dedicates that stretch of road on FM 150 in front of Vista Brewing as the Travis Heritage Trail. This is directly related to the work we are doing in scenic highway designations and protecting our scenic roads throughout the state.

We rolled by it on Saturday and the desire path makes it pretty clear lots of people aren’t opting for the 3.5-mile detour on Riverside. pic.twitter.com/RnAZqXC18t

Look at this bike parking and visualize how people would actually attempt to use it. (There are multiple distinct implementation flaws here.) #uselessbikeparking @austinmobility pic.twitter.com/jzsUKVO0vD
