Big Yellow Machines Inhabit FM 2100 Construction On The Bike Ride To Huffman
The temperature reversed yesterday’s move starting cooler and warming up. Today’s bike ride headed south and east on my “Atascocita – Walden – Huffman” route. Riding my Canyon Endurace bike I began at 11:11 AM, 5 minutes earlier than Monday. I also finished 5 minutes earlier at 1:37 PM. The bike ride covered 32.81 miles in 2:20:00. I am now within 7 miles of reaching my 300 mile goal for January. I noticed the Canyon Endurace is now at 20,395 miles.
I wasn’t the only cyclist out riding. Before leaving Kingwood I passed 3 cyclists. On Fairlake Lane 2 cyclists passed me and I saw them again on FM 1960 as I rode west.
Riding north on FM 2100 the road to the right of the barriers is now gone so I rode in the main lanes. I will pause riding on FM 2100 until the construction works allows me to ride on the new road.
Weather conditions: start 69 (36%humidity, 40.9 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind NE 9 mph; 72 (33% humidity, 41 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind N 9 mph. I wore shorts, a long sleeve thermal jersey, a windbreaker jacket, and new Pearl Izumi Red Elite Gel gloves.
No more new gloves for now but I do have a new long sleeve jersey waiting to be worn. My legs were chilly at the start but after 15 minutes they warmed up. There were times when I felt chilly like when I crossed Lake Houston but overall I dressed correctly. Wind wasn’t an issue today most of the ride.
Strava told me today’s bike ride was harder than my usual efforts.
According to the power breakdown in Golden Cheetah 49% of my riding times was in zones 1 and 2 leaving 51% in zones 3 through 7.
