County commissioner Ellis provides more support for bike-sharing program

The Harris County Commissioners Court recently approved a proposal by Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis, an avid cyclist who serves part of the area, to invest an additional $1 million in Houston’s bike-sharing program.
According to a news release from Houston BCycle, a nonprofit created by the city in 2012, the money will go toward the expansion of the program. It now has 111 stations with about 800 bikes, including nine stations in the Heights and Washington Avenue areas.
