Closing In On My Goal, Heat and Humidity Return
No rain delay on today’s bike ride as the Canyon Endurace bike and I started at 10:01 AM. After biking to the south yesterday I alternated to the north on the “New Caney – Roman Forest – Valley Ranch” route. The bike ride covered 41.18 miles moving the week’s total to 117.09 miles and July to 712.73 miles. I need 88 more miles to reach my goal for July which looks possible with the number of days left. Today was the 6th time to ride this route in 2020, 4 times on the Canyon Endurace and 2 times on the Lynskey R300. A summary of the 6 rides is below.
Weather today returned to a more July like level with heat and humidity. Weather conditions at the start and 1:21 PM finish: start 86 (83% humidity, 80 dew point), partly cloudy, wind NE 5 mph. finish 92 (65% humidity, 78.1 dew point), partly cloudy, wind NE 10 mph. The headwind getting to Roman Forest slowed me some but the return trip to Kingwood rode faster thanks to a tailwind. I improved my average speed to 14.0 mph on the ride south. Pedaling effort dropped and I shifted to a higher gear. Weather conditions will get wetter starting Friday late afternoon and into Saturday. I plan on biking Friday before that but Saturday may be rained out as a tropical storm comes ashore.
The rear tire patch from Tuesday continues to show no signs of leaking with a firm squeeze and solid ride over bumps. I removed the revised GoPro mount from the below the Bolt computer mount using my hands as the holder.
