800 In The Book, Selfie Stick Failure, No Sign of Sahara Dust
Late start on today’s bike ride after church. Rolling out the driveway at 1:40 PM on the Canyon Endurace CF SLX bike I rode around Kingwood Streets. I needed to bike at least 9 miles to reach my 800 mile goal for June and I accomplished that biking 25.48 miles. My June total stands at 817.20 miles. This was the 9th time biking this route in 2020, 6 times on the Canyon Endurace and 3 times on the Lynskey R300. A summary of those rides.
I missed biking three days this due to the weather which meant my string of 200+ mile weeks came to an end. I will start a new string tomorrow. Though I missed 3 days my total for the week came in at 139.02 miles.
Weather during the ride was cooler than you expect for a summer day at 89 degrees. If I rode one of my other routes wind would have been an issue today. Weather conditions: start 89 (68% humidity, 77.2 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind S 10 mph. Finish 89 (69% humidity, 77.4 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind S 12 mph gusts 24 mph. I thought the wind got stronger during the ride and those 24 mph gusts caught my attention when I rode out in the open.
Today’s video includes clips from both GoPro cameras. The clips with me were from the “loose” camera. I tried using a selfie stick but it was difficult to get out of my jersey pocket and put back in due to the GoPro mount. The sound was better on the selfie stick because my fingers didn’t cover the mic like I did when I held it with my fingers. I held the camera with my right hand but I think if I hold it with my left hand my finger will not cover the mic. I will try that tomorrow. A rolling video studio is not easy.
