Spring Biking on the Spring Creek Greenway, Oh the Blue Sky
For the second time in the last week and a half I rode the Spring Creek Greenway. With the bridge repair to the south I decided the greenway was a good place to go for a bike ride after biking to the north this week. The ride started at 10:55 AM and would last until 2:36 PM traveling 42.75 miles. This time I didn’t ride all the way to I-45 but made the turnaround at Dennis Johnston Park. Below is a summary of all the times I rode the greenway.
A blue sky, 82 degrees, and light wind at the start made for good biking weather. But the wind picked up while I biked among the trees. Weather during the ride: start 82 (53% humidity, 63.2 dew point), a few clouds, wind variable 6 mph. Finish 84 (50% humidity, 63.7 dew point), a few clouds, wind S 10 mph gusts 22 mph. I felt warm enough to wear shorts and a short sleeve jersey with sunscreen. I thought the wind increased but it was hard to tell with the trees. I found out when I exited the US59 trailhead to ride back to Kingwood though. Fortunately my direction was generally to the north at that point and it became a tailwind.
Below I stopped at John Pundt Park for a short break to check text messages and a phone message.
Other cyclists passed me on the greenway and the video caught many of them.
The CamelBak Classic came in handy on the ride since the water fountains are covered due to COVID-19 precautions. When I stopped at John Pundt Park on the way back to US59 I overheard another biker talking to her companion about where to get water.
