Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease of the central nervous system that affects more than 2 million people around the world. While there is no cure, events like the Texas MS 150 are helping to accelerate research and education.
The Texas MS 150 is an acclaimed bike riding event that raises money and awareness for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Texas Mutual Insurance Company is a corporate sponsor of the event, as well as a participant. In May, a team of 80 Texas Mutual employees will be undertaking the approximately 150-mile bike ride. Mountain Bike Dana Peak
A Mountain Bike trip at Dana Peak is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. March 12. Participants will meet at the Recreation Equipment Checkout Center and depart from there to Dana Peak in Harker Heights. Transportation will be provided, however riders can drive themselves if preferred. Mountain bikes and helmets will also be provided.
Once at Dana’s Peak instructors will fit riders with the correct size mountain bike and cover the basic fundamentals of riding. Then they will be free to ride around the trails or follow along with one of an instructor. The event is open to all and costs $25 per person. For information, call 254-317-5350.
New bayou bridge makes Houston urban areas more walkable and bike-friendly

In effort to make Houston more walkable and bike-friendly, city organizations have completed an important step in connectivity with the opening of a crucial new bridge. Leaders from various city groups recently celebrated the ribbon cutting for the Brays Bayou Greenway Bridge, which will serve as an important connection between the University of Houston and the future home of the UH College of Medicine — as well as MacGregor Park.
