PowerPod Second Calibration Bike Ride On A New Fabric Saddle
Yesterday I attempted to download the power information from my PowerPod for the rides on my new Lynskey R300 road bike. But nothing downloaded. After exchanging posts on the Velocomp.com forum with John I learned that the calibration ride from several days ago failed. One of the things about PowerPods is the feedback when setting it up comes from different colors of an LED. My problem is remembering what the different codes mean and then what action follows.
Today’s ride was the second attempt to get a calibration ride to use the PowerPod with my new Lynskey. The sky was overcast and as I walked the bike out the back door I heard rain hitting on the patio cover but not hard. Determined to get the calibration ride I continued out the driveway and got on the bike. As I rolled out the driveway the light rain slowed to almost nothing. I pushed the start button on the PowerPod to begin the calibration process and rode on. The streets were damp but not too wet. The calibration counter started at 0 and when it got to 50 I stopped per the instructions and waited for the LED to signal to begin riding again. When it signaled I started riding again and the count up to 100 resumed. When it hit 100 the count stopped and the PowerPod began sending power information to my Wahoo Elemnt computer, I think. As I write this I have not attempted to download the ride data from the PowerPod.
With the questionable weather I decided to ride on Kingwood streets and not get too far from home. A couple of times light rain fell again but not for long. The ride started at 11:20 and finished at 12:25 not giving the rain too much time to catch me.
Along with the PowerPod I gave a first ride on a new saddle, the Fabric Scoop Race shallow profile with titanium rails. I bought this saddle for the Lynskey R300 to replace the factory saddle after the problem I had with another Fabric saddle when the rails did not fit the Canyon seat post clamp. The Scoop Race felt comfortable during the short ride but I need a longer ride to get a better feel. If it works out I will buy another one for the Canyon Endurace since the rails are round and fit the Canyon’s seat post clamp. The longer ride will probably wait until later in the week due to the weather.
