Zwifting The Herd’s Bull Run With Keith’s Mountain
I should have suspected something at the beginning of the ride when D.T. (Herd) said the ride was flat all the way. I rode this event before but my memory failed me. The last 2+ miles included the climb up Keith Hill with inclines of 12%. I retreated from the front group to 141st when I finished after 23.99 miles.
I live streamed the ride at Twitch.TV/Texbiker for those who wanted to watch me suffer up the mountain to the finish.
As usual at the start the lead group got away from me so I raced to catch up from 298th out of 372 to at one point 3rd which didn’t last that long. With the fence 20 seconds in front of the ride leader it is easy to cross through the fence when you are in the front 20 or below. After that I slowed enough to be in the top 50 most of the time until Keith’s Hill attacked my smart trainer and the legs bogged down.
While the weather outside was within my riding zone I rode in Zwift due to errands and time commitments. The ride started at 12:00 PM and lasted 1:19:43. Strava had me down for at least 3 personal records while Zwift didn’t show any. No wonder with the 12% climbs near the end of the ride.
Tomorrow looks like outdoor biking is possible if the 50% chance of rain stays away. Temperature should be in the mid 70’s.
