Zwift Tech Snags Bike Ride
The outside temperature when I started this ride fell below my 60 degree cutoff. Time constraint also played a part. The beginning shows my fumbling around trying to connect using another phone but failed. This caused me to miss my original event and starting late on this one. Most of the ride my 35 or 36 position out of 45 kept me alone on the course.
Again I learned more about using Zwift. I wanted to use the Zwift Companion app on one phone and play music on another phone. But the music needed to play on the phone I used with Zwift yesterday so I tried to use the app on my second phone but the Wahoo Kickr, cadence sensor, and heart rate monitor wouldn’t connect to that phone. Not sure why. So I switched phones back but in the meantime the event I signed up for began without me and I didn’t know how to join late. Selecting another event I waited for it to start and the sensors didn’t connect yet but I made some changes and got them connected. Then I figured out how to join the event late which put in the position I wrote about above. Now I need to figure out how to use my second phone.
Time to Zwift was limited because of the University of Cincinnati football game at the University of Houston and I had a ticket. Kick off was 2:30 so I ended the ride at 12:15 PM to give me time to clean up and drive to U of H TDECU Stadium south of downtown Houston. The Bearcats won 38 to 23.
Riding the Zwift event was hard. The route had 2 laps but I only made it to almost the end of the first lap at 11.82 miles. A couple of hills slowed me down to 3 to 5 mph going up as the Wahoo Kickr resistance increased. Sweat flowed but quite as much as yesterday because of the shorter time.
Sunday’s weather forecast calls for warmer temperatures so I should be riding outside. I need 18 miles to get to 200+ miles for the week.
The video captures all of the Zwift tech problems as I tried to get going.
