Long Train, No Flats, Hot Weather Bike Ride
No flat tires on today’s bike ride. With the rain gone the weather was good for biking today: start 86 (75% humidity, 77 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind W 7 mph. Finish 91 (60% humidity, 75 dew point), partly cloudy, wind W 10 mph. It fits my definition of Texas summer. I decided to ride the ” Atascocita South – Walden – Huffman” route for 35.71 miles. Wheels rolled at 10:37 AM.
The last time I rode this route was May 21st but the ride was about 1 1/2 miles shorter. Today I added a couple of streets at the beginning for the extra mileage. I have several errands this week in the afternoon so it will be difficult to ride 40+ miles so every mile counts if I am to get to 200+ miles for the week.
It was warm enough to consume 2 water bottles today with a refill at the Huffman Chevron.
I was delayed at the railroad crossing on Old Atascocita Road by a very long freight train arriving a few seconds before I did. I should’ve counted the cars but I am guessing 100+.
The PowerPod still does not seem to be working the way it sued to. I got a response to my forum message at Velocomp with some instructions that might help: do a reset and reinstall a profile from earlier. I will try that later today and see if that makes a difference on Wednesday’s ride.
On the way back to Kingwood I stopped on the Lake Houston causeway and took these photos.
I made good time from the photo shoot finishing the ride at 1:21 PM.
