El Paso to Ft. Hancock TX Thursday May 2, 2019, 52 miles (84 km) – Total so far: 491 miles (790 km) After a week of recovering from whatever I had I started my ride in El Paso. It was a slight down hill from El Paso and then it was flat all the way to Ft. Hancock. There were only a few clouds in the sky. Spring Creek Nature Trail receives certification for being Texan by Nature

Spring Creek Nature Trail, a 14-mile natural hike and bike trail, was recognized for being a project that not only conserves natural areas but also benefits people. Its managing organization, the Bayou Land Conservancy, received the Texan by Nature Project Certification for the trail this month.
Jill Boullion is the executive director of the Bayou Land Conservancy. She explained that although the conservancy is a maintenance partner of the trail, the volunteers are the ones who’ve done the work on the project. …

150-mile Bike MS ride to raise money for multiple sclerosis research

Gordon James Robertson of Aurora, Illinois, resident of Hudson Oaks, Texas, passed away in his home on Monday, April 29, 2019. He was 66 years old.
Gordon is best known as the founder and ride director for the Ride for Heroes: a bike ride and community event in Parker County to benefit the volunteer fire departments and first responders. As an enthusiastic blues lover and drummer, Gordon served on the board of the Trinity River Blues Society, which helps uncover talent of local blues artists. Gordon had a passion for volunteerism, spending many years teaching english and offering assistance to refugee families, and helping people recover from addiction. …
