Wind Disappears Overnight, Blue Sky and Fellow Cyclists Ride
The wind disappeared during the night so when I started today’s bike ride at 11:22 AM I liked the prospect of not fighting it. I chose the “Stroker Road – Huffman” route which covers some of the same roads as yesterday’s ride. I modified the sequence of streets today for some variety from around the 9 mile point to FM 1960 where the streets got back to normal.
Weather during the bike ride: start 72 (35% humidity), fair, wind 4 mph. Finish 78 (35% humidity), fair, wind S 5 mph. Notice the wind is 5 mph or less compared to yesterday’s 32 mph gusts. Lots of sun and I dressed accordingly with shorts, long sleeve heavy jersey, and a wind jacket. This kept me comfortable the whole ride.
With such great weather I stopped twice on Old Atascocita Road to take these photos. The first two are at Fairlake Drive and the second pair were east of FM 2100 at the Gum Gully signs.
You can see the bright blue sky in each photo but the wind is not present.
With my late start I didn’t expect to see any other cyclists but four of them crossed my path. Maybe they were out enjoying the departure of the wind.
At the Town Center Park in Kingwood a number of food trucks gathered while booths and people moved around checking out the vendors.
I finished the ride at 2:41 PM.
Sunday is Easter so I will not ride. Back on the bike on Monday.
