Day 15 Short Day – El Paso to Fabens, Texas: Into Our Third State – Loving The Promised Land Monday March 11, 2019, 40 miles (64 km) – Total so far: 936 miles (1,506 km) Distance – 40. Climbing 1040 Semi Rest Day We crossed into our third state and there will be lots of different terrain in Texas for nearly three weeks. Our first few days travel along the US Mexico border and needless to say lots of Mexico influence. As we rode today, seeing the high steel wall and activity bustling on both sides makes you ponder and feel so fortunate. …
Special Edition of Texas Loop Bike Ride

Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2:30 PM – 4 PM CDT The LOT Dallas 7530 E Grand Ave, Dallas, Texas 75214 This event will be a special edition of the Texas Loop Ride. There will be an added 6.5 mile "Feature" to the loop, so the total distance for this ride will be 17.5 miles. This ride is a fun social ride (average speed 9 mph) around a 10.5 mile loop that resembles the shape of Texas. We will meet in the parking lot at The LOT for a rider’s meeting at 2:30 PM, then we will start rolling at 2:45 PM.

Day 16 Short-day big winds Fabens, Tx to Fort Hancock: OK California boys we’ll show you what Texas is all about Tuesday March 12, 2019, 30 miles (48 km) – Total so far: 966 miles (1,555 km) Distance – 30 miles. Wind Shortened Climbing none unless you count horizontal Hills We woke up early immediately watching the Weather Channel and had coordinated with Fred for a potential early departure. We left before 8 knowing it would only take us a few hours to ride the 30 miles to Fort Hancock, then we would evaluate whether we could get another 40 to Sierra Blanca. As we turned South we are immediately hit with some strong Southwinds. The winds continued pick me up about two miles an hour. Robert was in the lead and we had a little mini Peloton which was reasonably effective.
The scenery was nice with more cotton fields and lots of pecans. We have finally started to encounter the dogs playing …
