Where Is The Warm Weather Bike Ride
I kept waiting for the weather to get closer to the forecast but I gave up and dressed for the chilly temperature. Rolling out at 12:34 PM this was later than I planned but allowed enough time to ride the “Atascocita – Walden – Huffman” route for 33.33 miles, a mile more than I expected. I am now 49% of the way to my mileage goal for March at 287.25 miles.
The weather during the bike ride: start 67 (90% humidity), fog/mist, wind E mph. Finish 70 (89% humidity), fog/mist, wind SE 13 mph. To combat the chill I wore shorts, leg warmers, thermal long sleeve jersey, wind breaker jacket, and half finger gloves.
After the nice pace on yesterday’s ride my legs were not quite as fresh and I struggled to budge my average speed to 13 mph until I reached Old Atascocita Road and FM 2100 where the wind stopped getting in the way. My legs appreciated the help the tailwind provided as I rode north to FM 1960 and Huffman. Once I moved to FM 1960 I picked up the pace and my average started to move up settling in at 13.3 mph until I got back into Kingwood. I finished the ride at 3:09 PM with the thermal jersey damp from sweat and the jacket showing signs of sweat bleeding through.
Not sure about biking on Wednesday with the weather possibly being wet in the morning to noon time. I am a couple of days ahead on my goal with 15.19 days of miles as of the 12th of March. I can’t seem to get a bigger margin. Thursday I have another commitment so no biking and Friday a cool front may still be hanging around.

I am still battling to equal 2016 and 2017 miles. The other years are in the rear view mirror for now.
