Fun in the Sun Poolside Bike Ride
I wasn’t the only person out enjoying the sun and heat. When I biked through Roman Forest today I stopped at the pool and took these photos.
I bicycled the “New Caney – Roman Forest – Valley Ranch” route today with wheels down at 11:17 am. I wanted to ride at least 40 miles and actually biked 41.22 miles moving July to 327.46 miles, leaving 472.5 miles to reach my goal for July.
Weather during the bike ride: start 87 (71% humidity), mostly cloudy, wind 7 mph. Finish 92 (54% humidity), mostly cloudy, wind W 9 mph. The wind wasn’t much a factor in the ride enabling me to keep a steady pace no matter the direction.
I took a short side trip from the usual to go by the house we used to live in up to 1990 to see how it looks. It looks different with a concrete driveway (ours was rock) and a carport which we didn’t have. The street looks different too with houses on both sides all the way from the railroad track to the curve just east of the old house.
Back on the route the ride moved along and I entered Tavola to get to Roman Forest Blvd. to bike into Roman Forest. Traffic was light and the roads good. Construction on the south side of Roman Forest Blvd. before Peach Creek bridge will someday increase the cars. Even in Roman Forest several concrete trucks passed me meaning some type of construction is going on.
Cycling west on Roman Forest Blvd. to get back to I-69/US59 I stopped at the Shell station for ice and water. This would carry me to the Circle K/Valero on Northpark Drive where I took a 10 minute break to eat a Clif bar and drink cold water. Then I was back on the bike to finish the ride. The Wahoo ride summary up to the rest stop.
From there it was about 7 miles to the finish going through Kings Manor and into Kingwood. I pushed the Wahoo Elemnt stop button at 2:42 pm.
Thursday weather looks bike ride friendly and I plan on taking advantage of it.
