March Wind Continues Bike Ride
The wind will not let up. It was fairly easy pedaling to FM 1485 to the north thanks to the 21 mph SE wind. I chose the “New Caney – Gene Campbell Road” route riding to the north but I first thought of biking to the south. It would have been hard going into the headwind for 19 to 20 miles and then having a tailwind. My legs would have been spent so taking advantage of the tailwind would have been difficult I think. The wind got stronger as the ride progressed and biking SE on FM 1314 required extra energy. Before that turn from Gene Campbell Road onto FM 1314 I built up my average speed to 15.2 mph but as I rode on FM 1314 I could not maintain the speed and it slowly dropped. By the time I finished the bike ride it was 14.3 mph.
The ride started at 12:23 pm and finished at 3:05 pm. I narrowly missed the school traffic in Briar Tree, Kings Manor and Bear Branch.
Weather: start 80 (73% humidity), mostly cloudy, wind SE 21 mph. Finish 83 (66% humidity), mostly cloudy, wind SE 22 mph, gusts 29 mph.
No other cyclists spotted along the route. They were probably staying home out of the wind. In the summer the wind usually drops down and I might want some of this to cool things down some.
While I rode I noticed the Canyon Endurace needed a wash job so when I got home I got out the brush and soap. Here is the Canyon after the wash in the backyard.
The knock out roses are going crazy with blooms.
Probably no biking on Tuesday. Wednesday rain may arrive; we need it. My home weather station says .13″ of rain this month.
