May Day Bike Ride To Tavola
May is off to a good start with a 34.38 mile long bike ride on the “New Caney – Tavola – Valley Ranch” route. I was on the bike at 11:27 am dressed lighter than yesterday. I wore a short sleeve jersey and shorts today since the temperature was a comfortable 83 degrees under a clear blue sky. The wind was from the SW at 12 mph with some 17 mph gusts. I didn’t have any trouble with the wind until I made the turn back to the south at 17 miles into the ride. This took place at Roman Forest Blvd. as I exited the loop through Tavola. As I rode onto Roman Forest Blvd. from Tavola I wondered what the construction is all about behind the new Shell station which is not open yet. Maybe Tavola is expanding to the north or maybe New Caney ISD is building a new middle school?
The Strava data says the temperature was 95 but that is wrong, it was 87 at the end of the trip.
No rest stops on today’s bike ride with the weather so perfect and I felt good. I finished the ride at 1:54 pm. After several rides on the new Blue Norcross AL bike I decided to use my Stradalli RP-14 Carbon for this ride. Since my PowerPod is on the way back to Velocomp for repair no power meter numbers for the ride.
The last month of school starts today. I saw several schools with notices that the STARR (I hope I got the name right) tests are next week and no visitors are allowed. No school traffic today since I rode by early enough to miss the dismissals.
