Cell Phone Driving Ban May Include Cyclists

Over the last few months Austin officials have held the City’s distracted driving ordinance under the microscope hoping to find a way to make it more enforceable. Last week the Public Safety Commission endorsed recommendations to ban all hands-on cell phone use for motor vehicles and bicyclists, which has some cyclists up in arms.
The current ordinance bans all texting while driving a moving vehicle, but the ordinance has done little to suppress the texting-while-driving epidemic. According to APD assistant chief Brian Manley, the reason for this could be because the ordinance is…

I can’t believe it’s the middle of August! It has been a very mild summer temperatures-wise. Judging by the great attendance at some rides, I think everybody is taking advantage of this mild summer to do some good riding.
