Yesterday a benefactor benefacted me with a new Sony camcorder camera.
I find the older I get the more averse I am to learning something new, or figuring out something new.
This new camera apparently does all sorts of cool things, like it takes 3D photos. However, …
Train Like A Tour de France Cyclist
Team San Angelo
I’ve heard comments from fellow cyclists over the past couple of weeks that went something like “I wish I could ride half as fast as those guys in the Tour de France — what is their secret?â€
My response was “You could — if you trained just half as hard and half as smart as they do.â€
Although the cyclists who make it into the ranks of elite professional racers are genetically gifted, their workout regimen is also among the most grueling of all professional sports.
To be competitive at the upper end of professional cycling, these riders must be capable of performing at an almost superhuman level.
They achieve that level by following carefully structured training programs designed to…

Bike Ride from Jasper’s to Axtell TX and back
by Pecos 45Â Â Â Â Â Â www.baylorfans.com
So yesterday I met my good buddy Dave (“Dave? Dave’s not here!”) in Waco to pick up some lumber he had cut for the bed of a 1953 Chevy pickup I inherited. We decided to do a bike ride from Jasper’s BBQ out to the tiny community of Axtell, come back and eat lunch at…
Dirt Biker Damages Wee-Chi-Tah Off Road Bike Trail
www.texomashomepage.com
With the annual Hotter n Hell bike ride just four weeks away, volunteers are now busy each weekend getting a popular biking and running trail ready races.
A dirt biker has taken advantage of recent rains and created deep, muddy ruts in the Wee-Chi-Tah Off-Road trail. But trail officials say the ruts are not only an eyesore, they are a potential danger to anyone who runs or rides on the trail.
Larry Brown has mountain biked the Wee-Chit-Tah Off-Road trail for nearly a decade. He says trail damage recently caused by a dirt biker grinds his gears.
“When those ruts are in the middle of a trail you tend to focus on that and when your tire…
Cross-country trip promotes animal adoption
By Susan Redden      www.joplinglobe.com
OPLIN, Mo. — Where’s Bixby?
Not the town in Oklahoma, but the dog on the back of a bicycle ridden by Mike Minnick.
On Monday, the two were in Joplin, one stop on a cross-country bike trip to promote the adoption of dogs and cats from local shelters.
Minnick, 38, of Austin, Texas, said he started the journey May 15, 2013. Since then, he and Bixby have ridden thousands of miles, encouraging shelter adoptions and recording their journey on Facebook and Instagram.
The two started with a 600-mile “exploratory†trip across Texas, Minnick said.
“I wanted to see if…
RAJC-Ride Across Johnson County
Fort Worth Bicycling Association
Sunday, August 03, 2014 8:00 am
Formerly known as Burleson Shady when I first joined the club and hosted by John Roberts. One of my favs! and a great stand-by route, especially in the summer. Easy to follow, lots of shade, few hills, plenty of stores, lots of scenery, lots of farm animals and cows, maybe a cloud or two, and a easy finish. Could you ask for anything more??
Come on out for a casual Sunday ride. Whether its your only ride for the weekend, or you need something to smother the fire after the Blazing Saddles ride in Granbury.
Cue sheets and cycling buddies provided. Routes…
