New study says closing block of South Main increases mobility

SAN ANTONIO — A new study says closing a block of South Main Avenue would improve mobility downtown.
The block, located outside HEB’s headquarters, sits between Arsenal and Cesar Chavez. The plan has garnered controversy from groups that want to keep the block open, like the Main Access Coalition.
Research firm Kimley Horn says that HEB’s plan to close the block to expand the campus of its headquarters but add biking and walking paths as well. The firm says this would improve level of access to the area. …

Description:Â Saturday Rides are also Urban Road Rides from Urban Bicycle Gallery. The routes are around 20-25miles average 16-20 mph. Speed may vary depending on who shows. This route goes through many of the inner city neighborhoods: The Heights, Garden Oaks, and Oak Forest. Helmet required. Rides will be cancelled if the weather conditions are rainy, or icy (when in doubt call the store).
