AUSTIN — A cyclist has died after being hit by a pickup truck in West Austin.
DPS says Morgan Marold, 28, was riding with other cyclists on a 40-mile ride west on Bee Cave Road near Barton Creek Boulevard Tuesday afternoon. DPS says she got a flat tire, lost control of her bike and fell into oncoming traffic.

Arrive between 9:00AM and 12:00PM and ride until 2:00PM. No riders will be allowed to enter the ranch after 12pm. There is a $10 ride fee, (fee applies for non-riders also) of which all the proceeds will go to Child Inc. Registration is held the day of, on site. All riders are required to wear a helmet at all times and all riders under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
We are guests, so please be respectful, clean up after yourselves, and be kind. And don’t forget to thank the volunteers!

The South Central Collegiate Conference Championships will take place at Reveille Peak Ranch Nov. 1 and 2 to determine the SCCCC’s top male and female mountain bike racers. The conference league is a collection of cycling clubs representing colleges and universities from Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. It is one of eleven conference that make up the collegiate program of USA Cycling, the national governing body of cycling in the United States. Its athletes compete in road, mountain, track and cyclocross racing throughout the academic year at the conference level with hopes of qualifying for the USA Cycling Collegiate National Championships. The League of American Bicyclists recently released its semiannual list of Bicycle Friendly Communities (BFC) and Texas is now on it four times as Houston joins the ranks of BFCs!
