FORT HOOD — The Fort Hood Challenge two-day championship cycling race kicked off Saturday with a record-breaking 850 riders on the closed-course.

Baltazar Vilchis spends at least one hour each day on two wheels, riding his bicycle around The Woodlands or at the George Mitchell Preserve in Huntsville. He said he’s been competing in triathlons since 2000 and competed in three Iron Man competitions, the most recent was May in the township.
He’s loved bicycling since he was a child; and eight years ago, he opened his first bike shop, Cycles TX, in Mexico City. He opened his fourth in Market Street Sept. 3.

There will be a beginner clinic on Saturday, October 5th at Horseshoe Trail in Grapevine, at 10:00 am as part of the annual “Take a Kid Mountain Biking Event”. This clinic WILL cater to the youngsters, but all ages are welcome
There is a “classroom” for about an hour or so, 30 minutes on an obstacle course, and then a group ride that takes about an hour or so. So count on approximately 2.5 hours.
The clinic is recommended for riders new to the sport. If you have never ridden a Mountain Bike before or have just started out riding, then this is for you. Beginner Clinics will consist of basic instruction including bike setup, safety, trail etiquette, bike handling skills such as…
