iBike Newton Revistied
by Ray Garza      RGVcycling.com
It has been several months since I started using the Newton from Velocomp and it has become an essential tool for me. I thought it’s time to revisit my decision to buy the Newton.
First of all, I just love the unit! I ride everywhere with it even on social rides. It does almost everything that I would want on a bike computer; easy to ready screen, power, temperature, wind speed, hill grade, heart-rate, speed and cadence. The only thing it does not do is GPS, Bluetooth or WiFi. You cannot directly export your…
FLYBARRE MAKES TEXAS DEBUT IN PLANO
By Jessica Melton      yourplano.dallasnews.com
PLANO, TEXAS (Sept. 2013) – Flywheel Sports, the innovative indoor cycling brand, continues to revolutionize the fitness industry in Texas with the introduction of its total body sculpting program, FlyBarre. The FlyBarre program blends the best of light weight training, dance and core strengthening exercises. Using small intense interval exercises choreographed to contemporary and inspiring music, FlyBarre quickly reshapes the body for lean, strong, and elongated muscles.
Flywheel first arrived in Texas in 2012 with the opening of a Highland Park location and expanded in January 2013 with a second Dallas-area location in Plano. The growth continues with the addition of FlyBarre at Plano, and the phenomenon is expected to continue as Co-Founder and Creative Director Ruth Zukerman spreads her…
Huntsville State Park Race Report – 2013
www.turnincranks.com
It has been nearly 4 months since my last TMBRA race. I was unable to make Camp Eagle over Labor Day weekend so this would be my first test to see if I had made any improvements over the summer.
I’ve been riding regularly for about the last 5 weeks and have seen some pretty significant gains in some of my times on my fun and training rides. I was looking forward to seeing how those might translate into the race setting.
Huntsville State Park is, as you may guess, just outside of Huntsville, Texas. It’s a fun course through the tall pines around a small lake. The trail itself is very sandy and…
Interbike 2013, TXMTB Style!
by Shawn McAfee         www.texasmountainbiketrails.com
Just landed in Las Vegas for Interbike this week. I’m so pumped about being here and so glad that I had the opportunity. Just unbelievable.
I’m going to be doing a lot of scouting of different bikes and gear that are ideal for some good Texas XC riding. Not going to be seeing much DH/Freeride/BMX coverage from me here on TXMTB, but I will have some info on those products over at http://www.themountainbikelife.com/2013/09/interbike-coverage.html

Yellow Zone Designated Routes
Shawnee Trail Cycling Club
Although there are very few of these areas on our rides, we have designated certain segments of road as [Yellow Zones], to be observed by any Shawnee Trail Cycling Club rides traversing this area. In these areas, we are limiting our speed to no more than 24 mph which only affects our rides with higher paces. Included on this page are the areas concerned along with some of the justification that has been used for designation. We’ve…

Richardson City Council Approves Resolution for Work on New Trails
Bike Friendly Richardson
From last week’s city newsletter:
The City Council on Monday approved a resolution that advances the development of a trail system near the future State Farm campus and surrounding area.
