Skip the Soda Water – June 28th Bike Ride
I biked to the north today to New Caney and then to Roman Forest Blvd. The wind was helpful while I headed this direction but when I turned south at Roman forest Blvd. it was my enemy. I didn’t think the wind would be so tough and when I got home I saw why it was: SW at 8 mph with 17 mph gusts at the airport. Whenever I rode in the open away from trees and buildings it was the hardest. The wind did not hold back my average speed overall since I ended up at 15.6 mph over the 30.64 mile route.
Taking the “back way” out of Kingwood was different and set me up to bike north on Loop 494 all the way to Roman Forest Blvd. The heat was building up by the time I got home at 12:30 hitting 94 degrees while it was 85.8 when I left home at 10:17. In an attempt to minimize my time in the sun I did not stop for my usual Diet Pepsi break just refilling my water bottle twice along the way.
The ride put me over the 800 mile point with June now at 826.71 miles, the week is 168.29 miles and year to date is 3266.
Temperature for Saturday could reach 106. I will need to leave earlier tomorrow.
