Freelancing – June 15th Bike Ride
Trying to beat the heat I started today at 8:07. It was not real warm yet at 81 degrees but the humidity was 79% (IAH showed 90%). Not long after starting the sweat started to pour off my arms and forehead. The humidity let up some by the time I finished at 11:18 falling to 61%. After I stopped at the Stripes station on FM1314 when I started biking again the air felt cooler for several miles especially when I rode in the shade.
I was undecided on my northerly route when I started so I freelanced as I went taking a side street when I got to the New Caney Post Office on US 59 over to Loop 494 and then headed west on FM1485. I wanted to ride 35 miles or more but not a real long ride. I ended up riding 37.58 miles at an average of 15.3 mph. Today marks the 6 biking day in a row and the week’s mileage totals 195.53. June’s mileage increased to 448.18 and year to date moved to 2888 miles. I am quickly approaching my 524 mile goal for the month which may help me make up for May’s lower mileage.
Along the ride I spotted two other serious recreational bicyclists and numerous casual bicyclists.
Tomorrow is Father’s Day and I may take it as a rest day since I have biked 13 out of 15 days in June so far.
