Safe passing ordinance coming to Houston council Wednesday

The City Council on Wednesday will consider a safe passing ordinance requiring drivers to give cyclists, pedestrians, equestrians and other non-vehicular road users three feet of space at all times. Commercial trucks will have to give the vulnerable users six feet of space if the ordinance passes.

Bicycle races to take place this weekend in Corsicana, surrounding areas

Organizations team up to give free bike helmets to children

Members of the medical community joined Monday to throw a health fair for Maverick Boys & Girls Clubs children.
The Texas Medical Association granted $800 toward the fair as part of its Hard Hats for Little Heads program, which gives free bicycle helmets to children across the state, according to the association and fair coordinator Michelle McClelland.

On an unseasonably chilly May morning, over 750 bikers lined up on the Union Chappel Vineyards and Bar O Ranch road for the annual Michael T. McCann Memorial Ride bicycling event. Bike For Mike, as the race is known, honors the late Dr. Michael McCann, an avid bicyclist and Fulshear promoter.
