Texas Bicycling Blog and News Roundup for April 9th
“Best Little Bike Ride in Texas†3/28/13
Southern Tier Comfort Ride
Cloudy, but a warm 54 degrees this morning, and we were happy to take it. We left Austin about 8:30 am on side streets, bike paths, and bike trails. The wind out of the SE continued to hold us hostage today. At about mile 50 we entered Bastrop State Park. Meet the Crews
www.peopleforbikes.org
Every summer, thanks to funding provided by Volkswagen and our bike industry supporters, we send two teams of two on a whirlwind road trip of festivals, races, and rides across the U.S. Their job? Spread the word about bikes far and wide, and encourage more people to ride more often.
We’ve been fortunate to find some amazing, bike-loving folks to represent us since we launched the event program two years ago. Also, every year, at least one crew member has moved on to a full-time job in bicycle advocacy.
For our 2013 event crew positions, we received a record number of applications. We narrowed them down to two fantastic couples. Here they are.

Yes, cyber cycling. Of course if you visit the new Cyclodeo site it will tell you it is made to simulate safety and weather conditions on the road.
The journey is simulated through the application of GPS tracking and a video feed of potential routes. It provides the entire sightseeing adventure of biking within the confines of your own living room. You never even have to…
