April Fools Day – April 1st Bike Ride
April Fools Day did not keep me from riding and I encountered no fools or jokes while on my bike. What started off as a cloudy day changed around noon into a nice 78 to 81 degree one with some sun shining through broken clouds. A slight breeze worked at keeping the warmth spread around with a very slight hint of coolness when I rode through some shade. I wore a bright orange long sleeve jersey more for sun protection than warmth but there some spots where the long sleeves kept me warm. Riding over Lake Houston does feel as chilly as it did a week or so back. I think the repeated warm days and sun are heating the water up.
I did see another biker today and we exchanged waves though we were going opposite directions. My schedule is not so flexible today so I did not stop in Huffman for my usual Diet Pepsi. I also adjusted my route a little and ended up riding 30.06 miles. This is a good start for April. Last year I rode 719.36 miles on 23 days so I will set that as my goal for this April. This averages 31.3 miles per ride for April. Last month I averaged 31.65 miles per ride. 2013 year to date now totals 1344.70 miles.
The next two days have a chance of rain; Tuesday 50% and Wednesday 70%. This could use up some of the off days for April.
