Early Rain Leaves Overcast Sky – December 15th Bike Ride
The middle of December and 76 degrees does not make you think of Christmas but it is a good riding temperature. An overcast sky and some rain earlier in the morning did not keep from taking the Motobecane 700HT mountain bike out for a ride on the trails. Evidently I wasn’t the only person thinking along this line since I encountered a number of dogs out walking their owners and some just plain walking people too. Some places on the trails must have received more rain than we did at my house with a few puddles and water standing in the gutter at some of the street crossings.
No video of the ride today. I rode 16.53 miles at a 12.7 mph average speed, 20.7 mph max speed, and 71 RPM average cadence. Riding time was 1:17:48 with only 2:11 stop time. The trails don’t have many traffic lights so I wasn’t stopped too long. The ride summary is in the slide show below. I starting to use the Golden Cheetah program more to record my ride data. It seems to calculate the metrics closer to Garmin Connect than SportTracks does.
Tomorrow there is a 60% chance of rain so I may not get an opportunity to ride but Monday and Tuesday look promising with 72 degree highs and a clear sky. At the place where I usually see turtles there was one turtle slowly climbing up on a partial submerged tree. I would say the turtle would be sunning itself but the there was no sun today.
