In case you missed the latest news, Dallas is beginning to stripe bike lanes which finally moves us off the list of major US cities without on-street bike infrastructure. Bicycling Magazine, who ranked us the worst city for bicycling again this year, even took note in a recent article. Lone Star Ride Fighting AIDS 12th annual cycling event begins Saturday with an opening ceremony from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Irving Convention Center. The 175-mile bicycling route provides a two-day tour through Dallas and Tarrant Counties, presenting the opportunity for riders and crew to make new friends, while helping North Texans impacted by HIV/AIDS.
More than 400 bicyclists and supporting crew are expected to participate in the ride. The event will raise funds for three North Texas nonprofits: AIDS Services of Dallas, AIDS Outreach Center of Tarrant County and Resource Center Dallas. …

24 hours of madness: Frisco police officer competes in 24-hour bike race

Some people may think Jerry Profeta is crazy. He knows that. In fact, he thinks he’s slightly crazy himself.
On Oct. 20, Profeta will be racing his mountain bike for 24 consecutive hours in the 24 Hours of Rocky Hill competition in Smithville. The race will be Profeta’s second time competing in the individual event.
