US Postal Service celebrates cycling with four bicycle stamps – road bmx touring and children riding
The US Postal Service has issued four stamps celebrating bicycles and cycling. They’re Forever stamps, good for the standard First Class 1oz rate anytime you decide to use them. They showcase a kid riding, touring/commuting, road cycling and BMX. Here’s the official blurb from the USPS:
Rendered in graphic retro fashion, these U.S. Postal Service Bicycling (Forever®) stamps celebrate the American love of bicycling, one of the most popular outdoor activities in the country.
Remember the day you learned to ride a bike? That exhilarating sense of freedom is one you never forget and can easily recapture every time you hop on a bike. Perhaps that’s why millions…
GHORBA Group Ride at Lake Bryan!
by soccerdude      forums.mtbr.com
GHORBA will be holding a group ride at the Lake Bryan trails located in Bryan, Texas this Saturday June 16th at 10:00am. If you’ve never rode Lake Bryan this is a great opportunity to explore 20+ miles of singletrack spread out across two seperate trails. While not the most technical trail in Texas they do offer enough excitement for most beginner and intermediate riders plus they are well shaded which is appreciated this time of the year. The Brazos Valley Mountain Bike Association will be providing group leaders so we won’t get lost which is an easy thing to do on the East Loop. GHORBA will provide cold water, Gatorade, and light snacks free of charge to all…

HostGator are proud to have presented the 2012 Tour Du Rouge, benefiting the Gulf Coast chapters of The American Red Cross. The ride traversed five hundred and twenty-six miles, beginning in Houston on May 6th and ending in New Orleans on May 11th, at an average of 88 miles each day. HostGator designed the awesome jerseys visible in the images below, as well as t-shirts and lots of other event graphics. Allan, one of our Admins who participated in the ride this year, was kind enough to share some of his experiences with us. …
2012 Dirty Kanza 200 recap
by bikedenton
I rode the Dirty Kanza 200 last weekend. It’s a 200 mile gravel road race with exploding popularity. What started as 36 people starting in a parking lot a few years ago grew to 420 men and women of all ages riding the 2012 race. That’s right, men and women racing alongside each other. Rebecca Rusch would go on to finish 3rd overall. The race was a legend from the first year. The initial race reports caught my eye, and the sheer scale of the course was alluring. I read every DK200 article I could find, including reports from… (many pictures)

MP Crits Breakdown: Butler Stadium
by Ken         Texas Racing Life
Did you race the MP crit last week? How did it go? I thought it might be helpful to some if I break down this fun course and give some helpful hints on how to be successful on this course.
Above you’ll see a map of the course. The course is roughly .75 miles long, which makes it a shorter lap than any other course in Houston. By comparison, Memorial Park is around 1.2 miles, and Bear Creek is over a mile. The course has 8 turns if you count the 2 U-turns as 1 turn each. Because of how wide the course is, you can pedal through each of the corners, except the U-turns. Being a parking lot, there is some gravel and dirt on the…
