Chapparal Cycling Club, as a part of the West Texas Cycling Association, is hosting the 2012 Third Thursday Time Trial series. The first race had a great turnout with 14 racers. The next race is scheduled for June 21, 2012. Membership is required. These are scheduled training rides on an open course that is just a little bit shy of 8 miles. Meet at the Chisum Travel Center, 2611 East Slaton Rd , at 6:00pm. TT will start at the intersection of HWY 84 & FM 1585. A couple volunteers are needed. Contact Mike Ivins to help out. 15 LSC members gathered at Alvarado High School for the club’s alternative Memorial Day Weekend ride (David Grebel, Richard Wilkes, Sherri Galaway, Ken Grigsby, Denise Smith, Carl Decker, David Shuford, Dan Ford, Nancy Ford, Jennifer Seifer, David Edwards, Joe Willis, Stephanie Willis, Lois Olmstead and Jim Edwards). SAN ANGELO, Texas — On Saturday the people of San Angelo have a chance to peddle with a judge.
Texas Third Court of Appeals Judge Diane Henson is on what she calls “Le Tour de Henson,” where she cycles through the 24 counties covered by her appellate court, meeting people before the Nov. 6 election.
Along with finding the cycling be a good way to connect with voters, and “I thought it would be fun,” she said.

H-E-B pledges $250,000 to hike-and-bike trail improvements

The H-E-B supermarket chain pledged $250,000 to the Trail Foundation’s $5 million “Campaign for the Trail” on Thursday, putting the foundation’s fundraising total just over $4 million.
