Good Friday, Great Ride – April 6th Bike Ride
Shoveling mulch entered the second day. We moved about the same amount of mulch as yesterday. Getting out of bed and moving around did not seem impaired and powering the bike continues equal or better than previous efforts. My wife’s approach to spreading mulch is to spread the whole pile in one day and then suffer the consequences the next day. My approach spreads the mulch over three days or more without the pain buildup from the one frenzy. So far my approach works the best.
Good Friday provided excellent weather: partly cloudy sky, 84 degrees at the finish and a mild 8 mph southeast breeze. Humidity of 36% meant the cooling effect when moving kept my jersey pretty dry and comfortable. Even though I started a little later than I wanted (2:33 PM) I decided to lengthen my route by adding a loop taking me around the grass farms north of Crosby, TX. The weather conditions encouraged this choice. At one point I looked up and another biker was passing me going the opposite direction. I did not expect to see anyone out biking. I could go almost any direction at full speed and not be hampered by the wind. Passing through shady areas was extra pleasant.
