Some dirt and high grass – March 31st Bike Ride
Today I biked on the greenbelt trails during the morning on my Motobecane 700HT mountain bike. Riding on the trails under the tree cover kept the temperature low and the scenery high. I even rode on some dirt trail amongst some high grass. The ground was not as damp as yesterday’s short section. The paved trails were mostly dry with some water puddles on the side of the trail. Traffic was higher than during the week with people walking, jogging and biking. Apparently the trails are a popular place on a Saturday.
The road bike still resides at the bike shop awaiting the mystery tapping repair. It should be done by Monday afternoon.
The muscles dynamics when mountain biking seem different from road biking. I think I am putting out the same effort and the speed does not reflect it. Part of the difference is the gearing. This is like comparing an 18 wheeler versus a sports car.
The temperature range for today’s ride: 72 to 76. Partly cloudy sky with a light 5.8 mph SSW wind complete the weather picture.
The numbers:
- 1:20:01 riding time
- 11.5 mph average speed
- 20.5 mph max speed
- 72.0 RPM average cadence
- 15.37 miles today
- 119.37 miles this week
- 583.27 miles in March
- 1219.36 miles YTD
