Azaleas blooming bright red – March 2nd Bike Ride
Before my ride today while I sat at our breakfast table I glanced over at my home weather station and noticed the wind gauge at 6 mph. Due to all of the trees and houses the speed does not get that high unless it really blows. So I knew my ride would probably be tough heading into the wind. Supposedly a front will arrive later today with north winds 10 to 20 mph and maybe some rain. While the clouds looked heavy at times during the ride the rain held off. Another warm day with the temperature at 82 when I started and 81 when I finished. A few days ago I complained about cold and now the temperature responds.
Azaleas blooming bright red adorned the route from time to time. I mistakenly thought the blooming was too early since the Houston Azalea Trail starts on March 9th. Other spring time blooms are appearing as well. This makes the bike ride scenic and in some cases fragrant. No other bikers spotted today since I ride in the afternoon. Today’s route totaled 29.48 miles, average speed 15.2 mph (I did not think I would get the average this high due to the wind), max speed 24.1 mph, 79.3 RPM average cadence. March miles total 55.47 and YTD miles 691.56. Garmin Connect data link.
I am thinking of riding the Gator Ride in Baytown tomorrow if the weather cooperates.
