Super Bowl Sunday Wrapup
Greater Dallas Cyclists
Thanks to all the area cyclists who braved the cold weather conditions and joined GDB on our 27th Annual SuperBowl Sunday ride the West End. We had a great turnout for the annual ride-despite the rather chilly weather! It was great to meet new friends, and of course, see old friends. Dick’s Last Resort did a great job with the food and service at the place was packed!
Princess got “punked” by Richard from the FWBA. Richard saw The Italian parked outside the restaurant, and couldn’t resist lifting the bling off the saddle bag. Princess got her bling back the day of the…

City Council to vote on Bike Plan next Tuesday 2/21
by bikedenton
After years of work and growing momentum, Denton’s Bike Plan is finally going to city council next Tuesday for a vote. I’ll keep this short and say this is the time to show up and support the plan, if you want it to pass. Even if you think it’ll pass, simply showing up and filling out a comment card or speaking will add tremendous weight to…
Safe Passing Approved In Plano
by dickdavid      Bike Friendly Richardson
BFR stopped by to show our support for cyclists who were working to get a Safe Passing Ordinance approved in Plano – which was on the Plano City Council’s meeting agenda last night. There was a crowd of about fifty cyclists, who also came out to show their support.
I have to give some recognition to the Plano City Council. Not knowing what to expect at this session, I was worried that there might be some hesitation or debate with passing this ordinance. Fortunately, the vote was…

Thanks Cycle Celebration (and Colin and Andee) for organizing the VELOntine Ride. We started with a nice brunch at Buzzbrews in Deep Ellum. Farenthold’s tribulations over trail funding
By Editorial Board         Corpus Christi Caller
CORPUS CHRISTI — U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold’s vote against federal funding for hike and bike pathways puts him in an interesting, difficult position, having said no to a vocal constituency. There seems to be some misunderstanding as to whether he broke a promise. But voting yes would have contradicted both the Corpus Christi Republican’s philosophy on federal spending and the promises he made to voters. …

Cedar Park Day Two
by Doc         McKinney Velo Club
Saturday he had a solid day of road racing — 5th in the 1/2/3 in the morning before helping launch Brandish and Hobson into 4th and 5th in the 40+ that afternoon. But on Sunday, Brownie came out ready to seize the prize Sunday. After initiating a three man break, he did just that, taking the 40+ victory. Behind, ‘Seabass’ Brad Price battled a trio of OKC guys before finishing a solid 7th. Congrats boys on the start of what promises to be another solid season for MV.
The following post applies to the road as well as the trail.

This is brief, I just want to ask you one question.
What do you do when you see someone stopped on the side of the trail?
This weekend I had the unfortunate experience of getting a flat and as I was stopped to fix it I noticed something very interesting…
1/4 of the other riders might ride by and just ignore you, but the other 3/4 of riders will stop and genuinely ask you if they can help. They will give you a tube, help you fix a flat, or even mend a chain. Even President George…
