I thought I was over dressed – November 4th Bike Ride
When I first pulled out the driveway on the ride I thought I was over dressed. I had a long sleeve jersey, short sleeve jersey, windbreaker jacket and leg warmers and regular gloves. If I am warm before heating up from exercise I am over dressed. But once I started to hit the shade and some breeze I changed my mind. This was the right outfit for me. There was not a cloud in the sky and the wind was an easy 4.6 mph from the north. This was the result of the cold front that pushed through southeast Texas yesterday. I had to wait until after lunch for the temperature to get into the 60’s and it was 69 when I left for the ride. By the time I finished it was up to 70 degrees. Not much of a change. Last year I would not have been able to ride by the time I got home because the temperature would have dropped below the 60 degree cutoff. Nice to not have that problem now.
I saw two other bikers while I was out but only one passed me going the other direction. The other biker was behind me for a few blocks until I turned. The Huffman loop was 29.74 miles today with a good average speed of 15.5 mph. My max speed was 25.4 mph and the average cadence was 82.6 RPM. I suspect the cool weather inspired me to set this pace to keep the body heat flowing. November miles are now 74.93 so I only have 225 to reach my normal amount. Year to date miles are 5058.43.
