The Rain Washed The Sky a Brilliant Blue – October 13th Bike Ride
Overnight we got .63″ of rain according to my weather station. Now the sky has been washed clean and the blue is bright color beyond description. My wife is overjoyed since this is the second rain in the last 5 days. Our yard may recover from the drought yet. Along with the clear skies was a strong north wind that was punishing as I rode into it. That accounts for the sub 15 mph average speed. Once I turned back south my speed picked a lot but not enough to overcome the first 12 miles. The temperature was perfect with 80 degrees (44% humidity) at the start and 85 (31% humidity) at the end. That wind was much stronger than the IAH weather station reported at 6 mph from the northwest because every flag I saw was standing straight out. No other bikers spotted today.
With today’s 29.38 miles my October miles are now 325.79, week to date is 115.65, and year to date is 4567.13 miles. My average speed was 14.9 mph, max speed was 23.3 mph and average cadence was 79.5 RPM.
