Perfect Biking Weather Over head – October 5th Bike Ride
The perfect biking weather continues for my area. The blue sky has a few small puffs of clouds since the wind has shifted to the south and southeast. Temperatures are pleasant with 59 degrees this morning when I got up, 79 when I start the ride and 88 when I finished. The humidity has inched up though from the 5 mph south wind coming from the gulf (53% and 39% respectively). I have rode this particular route in awhile and when I turned around at Roman Forest Blvd. the wind was in my face for the next 9 miles without any shelter on my left. This was good for my average speed since there were not many stops and starts to drag it down. At one point my average was 15.9 mph but this ended up at 15.4 mph (for a change my Garmin and SportTracks agreed). The route was 28.41 miles long, a trend for this week of being 28 miles or more. The max speed was 20.4 mph and my average cadence was 81.7 RPM exactly the same as yesterday. I guess I have the legs programmed now. No strange animal sights today but I did notice someone throwing household goods and a mattress from the balcony at a nice apartment building I passed on my initial routing going along one of the greenbelt trails. I could hear some pots and pans landing even after I was out of sight.
I was thinking about my ability to ride each day now that I am retired and the title amateur recreational biker doesn’t seem descriptive enough. There must be a better one.
