Biking on Day Two After My Vacation – September 27th Bike Ride
Today was day two riding after my time off on vacation. The muscles were not complaining so much today. I got a later start today due to waiting on FedEx to make a delivery. The temperature was 92 at the start and 97 at the end. Scattered clouds hid the sun occasionally and the 4.6 mph north breeze was helpful. I could feel a slight coolness in the shade but we are continuing the run of high temperatures and no rain. My yard is a picture of dry desert conditions. Tomorrow I plan on an earlier start and there appears to be no rain to interrupt this. Humidity is below 40%. I noticed that my perspiration during the ride does not flow like it did when I biked in August. The top tube on my bike does not have perspiration drops either.
I extended my route a little today biking 25.39 miles but my average speed dropped to 14.6 mph. I thought my average speed would be closer to 15 mph but the last 5.44 miles was at 13.9 mph due to the route. The max speed was 20.6 mph and my average cadence was 77.9 RPM, also lower than yesterday.
My September miles are 105.52 and year to date I have biked 4162.33 miles. If I bike the each day left in September I should get the monthly total up to 180 miles or so.
