The clouds moved out last night – May 26th Bike Ride
According to the SciGuy weather blog tonight should be the last cool front southeast Texas sees until September. The temperature is supposed to get down to 65 overnight but that is about 30 degrees less than when I start my ride this evening. The clouds moved out last night as did the high winds. You can tell when the wind has dropped because we then get an ozone alert. So far the ozone alert has not been a problem for me and riding. With 95 degrees at the start and 87 at the finish and the low 23% humidity (this is like West Texas) riding was very comfortable. Sweat evaporated quickly. Clear skies and a light 8 mph NNE breeze helped. Even with the light breeze my legs were not putting out much power when I went into the breeze.
I still manage to average 15.2 mph with a max speed of 21.6 mph. Surprisingly my average cadence was 81.1 rpm. Riding time was 1:53:26. Tomorrow is a rest day so that I can go longer on Saturday. May miles are up to 559.43 and year to date miles are 2062.10. I noticed that I have rode 2412 miles on my Motobecane Le Champion bike since I got it last fall. This evening I rode 28.77 miles.
The blueberries are ready for picking so some time over the Memorial Day weekend I hope to convince my wife to go picking. I love blueberries off the bush.
