Some badly needed rain on Wednesday and Thursday – May 13th Bike Ride
Some badly needed rain on Wednesday and Thursday meant no riding. This rain was not enough to have any affect on the drought but it was still appreciated. I usually take Friday’s off but I went riding this evening to get some exercise and to get some miles in for the week. I will not be able to go for a long ride on Saturday due to the Special Olympics cycling competition at Memorial Park. My niece is in two events, the 5k and 1k races. We may get home in time for an afternoon ride. I hope to get 120 miles in this week.
After the rain today’s weather was picture perfect. 91 degrees when I started riding and 82 when I finished. Clear blue skies were what the rain storms left and the wind was a strong 17 mph at the beginning and 9 mph at the end.
The legs felt good after two rest days. I can still tell my saddle is not set at the correct height but I do not want to change anything since my Koobi saddle has been repaired and is in transit. It may arrive on Monday. Phil at Koobi said the cover replacement should make the saddle as good as new.
May miles are 242.85 and year to date miles are 1745.52. Today’s ride was 29.37 miles, a little longer since I was able to leave about 15 minutes earlier than normal. Average speed was 15.0 mph with the average cadence at 80.4 rpm.
